Last week, The Idaho Mountain Express featured a timely editorial asking readers to give thanks for the hardworking hands that grow our holiday feast. The article calls attention to the often-thankless nature of farm work, and suggests "for agriculture to be sustainable, it must provide a living for those who work our land."

CA Voters to Decide Whether Animals Need More Space |

Yesterday's Washington Post featured an in depth article on CA Proposition 2 - to be voted on by CA residents next week.
Under ballot measure Proposition 2, "CA farmers would be prohibited from
confining these animals in a way that does not let them turn around
freely, lie down, stand up or fully extend their limbs. Cages and
crates now commonly used to house them would be banned."

Meat and Dairy Consumption Damaging Climate, Says Food Ethics Council |

A new report from the UK’s Food Ethics Council claims that one of the ways to cut food’s environmental footprint is for consumers to cut down on what the Council says are energy intensive foods like meat and dairy.
It is calling on food companies and retailers to take the lead in this regard as it claims that they influence what consumers buy.
