Fellows come from across the state, and from every part of the food system and show unrivaled commitment to bold new ideas and actions. Read more about the Planning Fellowships, including information about the 2007 class of PF's here. This year’s 2008 ROC Fellowship applications will be posted June 1, 2008. Applications are due by July 1, 2008. This year’s Fellowship Retreat dates are as follows: Session 1: October 14-16, 2008 Session 2: November 19-20, 2008 Session 3: December 17-18, 2008 Selected annually, each class of ROC Planning Fellows work together to continually improve the Campaign to create a sustainable food system for CA by 2030. The experience will also help each Planning Fellow access new networks, gain leadership, consensus-building, and organizational skills, and learn to use a variety of technological tools for on-line collaboration. The goals of the 2008 PF process include: a. To continue to test and hone the strategies for creating a sustainable food system by 2030. b. To form workgroups that will focus on implementing specific areas of the 5-year Campaign. c. To expand the capacity of each Fellow to demonstrate leadership. The 2007 class of Planning Fellows were instrumental in the creation of the 5 year New Mainstream Campaign Strategy which begins to identify and prioritize the activities needed in CA from 2007-2011 to achieve a sustainable food system for the state by 2030. ROC Fellows are chosen through an open application process. Each class of Fellows will be selected to reflect a level of diversity and experience representative of the current CA food system. Individuals are awarded fellowships based on a wide variety of considerations including: their role in the food system, leadership experience, project/business experience, connections to extended CA networks, and diversity of age, ethnicity, and geographic location to reflect the state. Food system leaders from across California are encouraged to apply. Please pass this information along to leaders in your networks who would be important additions to the Fellowship program.
